We have been working very hard on our latest e-commerce web design and development project and just thought we would give you a quick update on what the project involves and how it could benefit other companies looking for the same thing. Though we have been involved in and built other e-commerce websites before, this one is on a bigger scale and involves many other aspects.
We were approached by a heating parts wholesaler who was looking for an online shop initially containing around 12,000 products. The shop needed a simple, easy to use interface with advanced search features to enable customers to find products easily. We were also asked to make the cart process simple and force customers to create an account so they can log in, track their orders and view previous orders at a later date.
To give you an idea of how quickly we work, this phase of the project was copleted within two weeks. We had a fully functional online shop and cart ready to go in no time… only thing is there was no products. Though the shop is now done, we still have lots of work to do collecting the data and importing into the e-commerce system.
Another requirement for the site is to be completely flexible and be ready to evolve to cater for different types of products and a “premium” are where people can pay to download boiler manuals or pay a subscription to be able to download as many as they want. Something we are looking forward to developing following the launch of the site.
The initial product catalogue building phase is still under way and the project is yet to be launched, so watch this space!
