A report has suggested that Google+ has overtaken Twitter in terms of active users.
Data from GlobalWebIndex suggests that the internet giant’s platform was used by 25% of the global web population over the past month, a figure that makes it second only to Facebook.
The GlobalWebIndex Q4 2012 report shows that Google+’s active usage grew by 27 percent to 343 million users last year, topping Twitter and Youtube, both of which ended the year with a little over 300 million active users. Interestingly, Twitter had the strongest growth at 40 percent in 31 markets, but it wasn’t enough to keep its lead over Google+.
So if you have been avoiding Google+ because you heard it was a ghost town, maybe it is time you gave the social networking site a chance. Google+, while still not on the level of Facebook in terms of users and activity, is now the planet’s second busiest social networking site.
