How to Change the URL/Link to Your Facebook Page

Many businesses are now seeing the value of using social media to marketing themselves and their products or services. The biggest social media network is of course Facebook. When you first create a Facebook page the URL/link consists of a really long number and your page name. This of course can become very annoying if you are trying to tell someone your Facebook URL or if you want to use it on collateral that will be seen by customers.

So to make sure that your customers or potential customers can find your page easily, you need an easy to speak and write URL. Luckily this is quite easy to change. Log into Facebook, go to your page admin panel, then Edit Page > Update Public Info > Create a username for this Page. Clicking this will prompt you to use Facebook as your actual account, click on “Continue as YOUR NAME”. Now you will land on the page where you can decide your username which will be your url. i.e. http://www.facebook.com/YourUserName. You can only change your username once, so ensure that you are 100% happy with it before you click confirm.

It is also worth noting that you shouldn’t worry about people not being able to reach your page via your old URL – Facebook will automatically redirect that link to your new easy to read URL.
